I enjoyed “sleeping-in” to my normal wake-up time of 7:00. something I never thought I would enjoy. Upon checking my phone, there were texts from each of my three school buddies.

Becca: “Today’s wild animal day! Come as you are😊”

Jules: “Wild animal day – don’t be boring.”

Jana – “Can’t wait to hear about your movie experience. Try to find something to wear for wild animal day today.”

I dreaded seeing the girls for I’d have to tell them I’d been ousted from the set. And mentioning the estate sale fiasco was a hard no. They would never let me live that down.

Although my closet was packed tight with clothes, nothing was very wild. I found a sweater in a zebra pattern that had to work and I pulled it on over my camisole. When Ren and Ree entered the small space, Ren asked, “Are you okay today, Mom?”

I shrugged. “Got a good night’s sleep. That should count for something. I’ll be fine.” I smiled.

Ree straightened my shirt and said, “Just go to school where you can celebrate beating Dr. L in his evil plot to rule the school and maybe you’ll forget all about yesterday.”

I hugged them both. “That’s right. Let’s go get ‘em, Tigers. Speaking of Tigers Ren, your swim team is going up against the Jenks Trojans next week. Are you ready?”

She answered, “I hope so. I swam a personal best at practice on Tuesday.”

My eyes widened. “Breast Stroke?”

She nodded.

“Good for you! I’m sorry I’ve been so involved in my own crazy stuff. Next week, I’ll try to be a better mom. And what about you, Ree? What have I missed?”

Ree said, “Nothing important, but I don’t want to be late for school, we’re having a pep assembly first thing.”
